Design Plasmonic Optical 4 × 2 Encoder Based on 2D Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator

Digital encoders are one of the key devices required in optical communication and digital signal processing systems. In this paper, a new photonic crystal structure is used to design all-optical 4 × 2 encoder constructed from GaAs rods with square lattice pentane background based on plasmonic effect. Gold have also been at interface dielectric lines defect, which create properties into structure. The designed device composed four input waveguides two output ring resonators resonant wavelength 1.14 μm TM polarization. presented platform has small size 19 33 that makes it integration compact operation simulated analyzed numerical finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method plane wave expansion (PWE) method. proposed structure, we shown by selecting appropriate radius for cavities, desirable can be obtained. maximum values transmission efficiency first second outputs 82% 96%, respectively. Resonant cavities located such way activating third input, 50% 48% will obtained each ports indicating (1,1) logic state. So could future applicable field computing.

In this paper, we proposed an all optical 4-to-2 encoder that has 4 input and 3 output ports. This device generates a 2 bit binary code based on which input port is active. We used nonlinear photonic crystal ring resonators along with optical power splitter for realizing the proposed encoder.
